Creating re-worked vintage masterpieces at J’adore! by Ella Ampadu

Yes, we love fashion and yes we love making it our own!

What better way to do this and put our own stamp on things than re-working some of our vintage pieces. I love how changing just one little thing about an item of clothing can make it look so different and appeal to so many different people – vintage is an ever-increasing type of fashion, both on the high-street and at designer labels and at J’adore we try to stay one step ahead of the trends at all times! Float your way through S/S in our vintage summer dresses…

Vintage summer dresses are the staple for your wardrobe to make sure you can style out the coming months…

We’re always banging on about ‘clunky’ this, ‘edgy that’ teamed with an ‘urban’ something or other, and yes – we do blinkin’ love a good old gritty rock n roll look but there is something about the summer that makes us J’adore gals go all soft and feminine! At least for an evening or two that is! Of course you know we’ll be encouraging you to contrast soft and edge but mostly, we just wanted to share with you these beautiful one-off vintage summer dresses that will have you swishing, swooshing and sashaying across every field in sight!

Vintage Dresses – a sure fire way to get you noticed!

Vintage Dresses are probably one of the most popular year round picks from the J’adore collection – ever increasing in popularity there are a number of people who wear vintage dresses then there are masters of wearing vintage dresses. And the difference is vast. Take Nicole Richie for example: she transformed her entire media portrayal from The Simple Life lout, single-handedly by keeping her ‘trademark look’ effortless with beautifully embellished vintage dresses and maxi dresses.

And we can’t forget the amazing Florence Welch (not least because Miss J’adore herself would beat me over the head with a vintage shoe or two if I tried!) who rocks everything about the vintage vibe. Flo goes head-to-toe in vintage dresses, vintage kaftans, vintage two-pieces…and never, ever (grrr) gets it wrong! Read more..

Vogue Festival: a view from the FROW – by Molly Whitehead-Jones

vogue festival

When you think of the word ‘festival’, certain things spring to mind straight away.
Music. Tents. Mud. Uncomfortable toilet trips.
But recently I experienced a very different kind of festival – one without a burger
van or portaloo in sight, and where wellies would definitely not be considered
acceptable footwear… Read more..

Street-style in Prestwich

prestwich

NYC? Milan? Paris? Prestwich? What?!! Yes! North MCR is where it’s happening! Or certainly, where J’adore the Boutique has chosen to spread its roots! So we thought rather than keep this all to ourselves, we’d share it with the world. So with that in mind (and a lack of exciting plans) we, with our usual over-zealous nature grabbed the camera, notepad and headed out into the village… Read more..

Vintage Clothing goes all retro, fun & bright at J’adore!

Vintage clothing just keeps getting cooler and cooler at J’adore as we’ve finally been able to unleash the spring/summer looks; the sun comes out, the skies are more blue than grey, the temperature rises a good 10 degrees and our moods instantly lift! The weather has such an impact on how we feel here in Manchester and therefore it goes without saying how that transports to our wardrobe. Our S/S vintage clothing collection is full of colour, denim, attitude and erm Mickey Mouse!

Whatever your opinion on what should be classed as ‘vintage clothing’ – the 90s are back. High street stores are full of grungy looks, oversized denims, scrunchies and neons. At J’adore we have the original 90s pieces in store and even though it makes us feel like proper old fogeys – 90s vintage clothing is bang on trend this summer. Read more..

Wild Wild Wonder-Wears!

Picture it. The heat beating down on your tanned (or not, in our case) shoulders. Your boots scuffed to perfection against the dusty ground. You hair – loose and wild. You feel strong, empowered, uber-feminine and… okay, okay, I’ll cut to the chase – the theme behind our latest shoot was… you guessed it! RODEO! And with all cliches aside (see above) it is quite genuinely one of the coolest, sassiest styles that we absolutely love here at J’adore! So saddle up and let us run you through our western-inspired beautiful buys, both vintage and boutique.

We never like to be too matchy-matchy with our shoots (nothing to do with the lack of desert available in Greater Manchester at all!) so we chose the beautifully decadent Palace Hotel as a suitably contrasting space. In it, we found so many intricate nooks and crannies, stained windows, sweeping staircases and marbled archways that we were spoiled for choice to showcase our latest looks.

Getting to know J’adore gal Carmen!

One of the best parts of the job at J’adore is the chance to meet so many great new people through all of the different photoshoots, fashion shows and events we work on. Over the last couple of years we have worked with so many different people from photographers, singers, bands, and models to name a few and one face I’m sure will already be quite familiar to you is one of the main faces of J’adore, little miss Carmen Clarke!

What is it about Alexa Chung? By Molly Whitehead-Jones

What is it about Alexa Chung?

Style icons come and go, but Brit beauty Alexa Chung’s been in vogue (and also literally in Vogue…) for a good while now. As popular with the fashion elite as she is with your average Topshop goer, there’s certainly something special about Miss Chung, with her countless magazine covers and various ‘best dressed’ accolades. My wardrobe envy is palpable. But how is it that the model-turned-presenter’s managed to hold on to her place at the top of the trendy tree for so long?

Frances Wood – Styled By J’adore!

Over the past couple of years we’ve been lucky enough to work with some amazingly talented
people and last week was incredibly exciting as we had an extra special ‘guest’! We had the
pleasure of meeting and working with the rising star Frances Wood, as we headed to our very own
Northern Quarter for an urban shoot. You’ll no doubt recognise this familiar face, as Frances was a
contestant on ITV’s The Voice 2012. With her hats, adorable accent and endless swag, we loved her
from her very first audition and Fran was our definite fave from Team Will.I.am!
